Though I have not ever been in a significant auto collision, I have been in one that might have been serious had things been just a little bit different. I consider myself fortunate, and I hope this is nothing that I ever have to go through, and I hope no one in my family has that kind of bad luck either. No-one wants to go through an automobile collision; you have to know it is a possibility. I stress about them the most in winter. We live in a place where everyone thinks they can handle the snow, and they go rushing through it like they were unshakable. They are frequently proven mistaken.

It seemed there was a rash of collisions when I was a teenager. It may have been that people did not have lots of money and bought principally used cars - and while used cars can be totally safe, purchasing used cars will not ever be altogether as trustworthy as buying new automobiles. I lived in a very small town, and our graduating classes averaged less than one hundred pupils every year. Everybody pretty much knew everybody else, and this wasn't just restricted to those in your class. It seemed that each year there was at least one deadly auto collision, and it was always lethal. The saddest part was that each auto collision seemed to be correlated to drinking. There was nothing else to do in our city, so everyone drank. A lot of people in my school died due to it.

I can't say I was much better. Although I didn't drive, I did ride around with people who had done so. I was not what you may call a dim person either. Teenagers know the risks of an auto crash but they just don't suppose it can happen to them. I just not ever thought I was in peril, and I was fortunate that the only automobile collision I was in was very minor, and equally blessed in that no-one got hurt. Icy streets were to blame for that crash, and thankfully no one had been drinking.

If you stress about your children being involved in an automobile collision, you have a right to worry. The smartest teens on the planet make some poor choices. That's all a part of growing up. You have to warn them of the dangers of drinking and being in a motor vehicle, and you need to let them know that an auto collision can happen at any time. This may not be enough though, and that means you have to make sure you know where your kids are and what they are doing at all times. This might mean making them stay home when their friends are out. They might say they detest you for it, but it's all part of being a good parent. Personally, I would prefer a mad kid to a dead kid.
